The Latest Tech Gadget!

So...will the fact that the latest greatest newest techiest most awesome gadget's name sounds like a feminine product detour peeps from purchasing? Probably not...but it would have been so much cooler to say "I just bought the new iTablet" than to have to say "I just bought my new iPad!" Girls don't like the name PAD. Usually it's only used when we whisper to a friend..."Hey do you have a PAD I can borrow?" Yuck! Bad name. Cool Device...but bad name! Oh Well. Leave it to a man to come up with that name. I am absolutely positive that a woman didn't do it. They are going to receive some grief from that for sure.

6 Kinds of Friends Leads to Life Longevity

The Today Show had a segment this morning on how having friends can have an effect on how long we live. They went as far as to say that we need 6 types of friends to create the maximum effectiveness of this theory. Here is the list of the 6 type of friends one needs to extend our lives and to enjoy them more fully.
1. Old Friend - Someone who know the real you and has history. There is something comforting in nostalgia and going down memory lane with someone. In addition, they require no "get you up to speed" time. If you keep in contact...they know your lingo and where you are coming from. They get you.
2. New Friend - It's important to stay fresh. New Friends allow you to learn to things. They expose you to a different way of approaching things. Change is good and allows us to reinvent ourselves. It's always good to start over and with a new friends we have a clean slate and no preconceived notions from our past.
3. Workout Friend - A must as we age. Working out is not an option...the facts are there. Use it or lose it. This is your buddy that holds you accountable and that you enjoy sweating in front of. They may not be someone you have deep conversations with, because you breathing so hard that you can't talk. But they are committed and are dependable.
4. Spiritual Friend - This friend is a heart connection that knows that your friendship is bigger than the two of you. For me, this is really important and my good friends are in this category. I enjoy the "iron sharpens iron" approach with my deep friendships. We love to talk about what God is doing in our lives, to pray for each other, encourage one another and hold each other accountable in love. For me these are my Sisters in Christ.
5. Younger Friend - This friendship fills our need for nurturing others. It is also a great act of service. The bible teaches in titus for the older and wiser woman to mentor the younger women. We should share our skills in cooking, decorating, mothering, gardening, crafting. We can even share our mistakes for others to learn from. Then our mistakes are not in vain.
6. Partner's Friends - This one was weird for me., because my partner is a man...my husband and I'm not typically friends with his friends, but essentially it suggests that we embrace our spouse's friends. I like to put my spin and say that couples should have couple-type friends. Friends that you go to dinner with. Maybe vacation with. Usually it's a family thing with kids included. This can be fun, but don't make the mistake and only do things with other couple forgoing your personal family time. That should never be forsaken.

So the question is....Do you have all 6 type of friends in your life? Which ones are you missing? What's your plan? Do share...I'd love to know...Until then...

30 Days of Thankful!

It's all the rage right now on Facebook. I rather thinks it's a great idea. Why not?
Even though today we are on Day 4...it's not too late for you to get in on the deal. Each day you write on your status what you are thankful for. If you find you have a less than positive approach to life right now, try it. They say it takes 30 days to change a habit. If you approach each day claiming an attitude of gratitude...you will see a change in the positive direction. God will bless your effort.

Fun Candy!

So I read about this on one of my fave blogs Pioneer Woman. I'm addicted to her blog and read it often. Mostly because I love
to see what she's cooking. I have cooked several of her recipes and they are worthy of a blog, for sure. And I'm picky.
Somebody sent PW this Asian candy fun and I happen to find the exact stuff at my local World Market. Love that place.
I highly recommend these tastey snacks. It was fun to experience them with my little dude. We especially likes the Yan Yan or whatever and the little panda bear goodies.

In the Words of McMama!

There’s a great new “linky” service available and I wanted to let you know about it. It’s called MckLinky – www.mcklinky.com. After realizing the need for a new, reliable linky capability, Brent Riggs and MckMama got together to create a free, easy to use linky service for all their blog friends.

MckLinky is a free link list feature that allows you to do include lists of other blog links like MckMama does on Not Me! Monday. You can use MckLinky any time you want your blog readers to leave a list of links on your blog. It’s simple, reliable, free...and loads of MckFun!

Revelation Song

One of the most anointed songs of this decade - Revelation Song can usher you into His presence, smack dab in the middle of the throne room. I have the privilege of singing this song this Sunday at church. I will humbly admit that I do not do the song justice. But Kari Jobe certainly does. She is one of my newest Faves in Contemporary Christian music these days. Give a listen and worship along with Kari. "Jesus, Your name is power..." Father I love you. May you be blessed by our praise to You.

Tan Fat Looks Better Than Pale Fat

Well, I guess that is true. But one hopes to get that tan in not so public of places. However, we has Momma's do crazy things for our Baby Boys. So I push through the embarassment and fear and don the two piece for a day at the pool with my 8 year old. He has been begging for a pool day since school got out. I hate going to the pool. Now mind you, I will put on the itzy bitzy teenie weenie bikini on vacation - No Problem! I know no one. Will never see those people ever again in my life. Could careless what they think of me. I am free to be me on vacation. Everyone lives crazy-like while on vacation. That's the fun of vacation. However, with the recession, a trip to Maui like last year, is not possible. And as much as I have been dreaming of a beach break this summer, I'm not counting on it. So....to be a good Momma and give my little guy some pool time, which every kid deserves on their summer break, I will trudge ahead. Now some of you might say, "Why can't you just go in shorts and stay covered up if you have such an issue?" Heck no man! I don't like to be hot or a martyr. I believe, when in Rome. Talk about a sign around your neck that says, I have severe body issues. Just show up with no bathing suit and that is what you are screaming.

Wish me luck. Oh, did I mention I'm going with a friend who is super tall, thin and model beautiful? Yep, I'm a glutten for punishment. If I survive, I'll post again tomorrow. For now, I'm heading off to do 500 sit ups before bed....I hope I can walk.

In a Funk? Drive It Out!

Do you ever get like that? I certainly do. I have found that most of the time my funks are brought on by people. Well, they are actually brought on by my allowing people to affect me. When we allow things said or done to rob our joy, we are giving up the steering wheel to our joy ride. We somehow slide over to the passenger seat and give up that coveted driver's seat. Oh don't get me wrong, I sometimes like to ride shotgun, but not to the point that it defines who I am. I want to be defined by my actions, what I say and do, not what I feel as a result of others. We will never control others and their actions or words. We only have control over ourselves. We must stay in control of our joy and not allow detours down the road to ickyland. We must own our actions, our words, our beliefs. We must spread love and joy all around. Hoping that others will pick up on it and jump on the happy bus. When everyone gets on the bus, what a joy ride that will be. A day of rejoicing....la la la la...Oh I hope we don't have to wait for heaven for that. If so, I'll keep practicing here on earth. There is so much scenery to enjoy along the way.
Lord, please keep me focused on what is truth in me because of You. Help me not to get bogged down in other peoples opinions. Your's is the only opinion that is fully informed and right. Help me to spread joy and laughter all around. Help me to follow your map as I drive this Joy Ride of life you have blessed me with. I Love you Lord. May I say and do what pleases You! In Jesus Name...Amen!

Happy Driving!
Love,
Faithful
